Week 1: Friday 12:00 - 1:00 pm October 18th

Workshop 1: Introduction to Solar Array Manufacturing

• Objective: Get familiar with the overall process and tools.
• Activities:
  • 15 minutes: Overview of solar array manufacturing, testing science. (presentation).
  • 15 minutes: Demonstration of the tools used in the process (soldering iron, multimeter, laminator, etc.)
  • 15 minutes: Hands-on practice with basic soldering on non-solar sample materials, Protoboard
• Total Duration: ~1 hour
• Materials Needed: Soldering iron, sample Protoboards, flux, gloves, etc.
• Location: IDEA lab

Week 2: Friday 12:00 - 1:00 pm October 25th

Workshop 2: Soldering Solar Cells

• Objective: Learn how to solder solar cells correctly.
• Activities:
  • 15 minutes: Instruction on soldering techniques specific to solar cells.
  • 30 minutes: Hands-on practice soldering solar cells.
  • 15 minutes: Testing connections with a multimeter + EL set up to ensure proper soldering.
• Total Duration: 1 hour
• Materials Needed: Solar cells, soldering iron, solder wire, flux, multimeter, EL set up.

Week 4: Friday 12:00 - 1:00 pm Nov. 8th

Zoom Session with Maxeon

• Objective: Engage with the sponsor Maxeon for insights, feedback, and potential collaboration.
